Damon Accardi, AIF®
President & Wealth Strategist
Damon joined the family business in 2013 and splits his time between Boston and Wilbraham. He holds licenses for life and health insurance in addition to the following securities licenses with LPL Financial: Series 7, Series 63, and Series 65.
Damon also holds the designation of Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF), which is given only to individuals who have met educational, competence, conduct and ethical standards of care in serving the best interests of their clients. With an exponentially increased focus on fiduciaries over the past decade-plus by FINRA, the SEC, and the Department of Labor, it’s critically important for an advisor to have a higher standard than simply the bare minimum – which is why Damon pursued the AIF designation.
Damon is currently an advisor to many different company 401k plans, where he manages the plans with the business owners and meets with the participants with the goal of helping each of them to make more prudent investment decisions with their retirement funds.
As President and Wealth Strategist at AFG, Damon helps to manage the advisory business while also meeting regularly with his clients in-person, which he believes is the best method of providing personal, individualized financial advice. “One of the things I love doing the most is talking to clients and business owners face-to-face,” he says. “The personal connection with people who are entrusting us with their life savings helps to serve as an even greater reinforcement that they are counting on me to get them to – and through – their retirement. I do not take that responsibility lightly.”
As a “second-generation planner” in his family’s advisory business, working with his father has played an integral role. By observing his dad over the years – his work ethic, his relationships with his clients, his implementation of the Bucket strategy – Damon was able to learn the ropes while growing up, he applies this longtime wisdom and knowledge to his existing years of experience.
Damon earned his bachelor’s degree from Penn State University. A former college and semi-professional tennis player who captained the Penn State tennis team from 1999–2001, Damon still loves the game and plays often. He enjoys teaching children the fundamentals of tennis, which in many ways mirrors his ability to explain often complex financial topics in simpler terms to clients and 401k plan participants.
Damon and his wife, Lisa, have been married since 2016. They have two daughters, an infant and a 3-year-old, both of whom keep Mom and Dad very busy. When he’s not in the office or spending time with his wife and children, you can find Damon at the gym; playing tennis; running; playing golf; entertaining; and cooking for family and friends.
